Jay-Z - "Reminder" (prod. by Timbaland & J Roc)

And another one! But this time Timbo and J Roc took the beat to a more oriental direction. But it doesn't seem that they sampled the melody.
Check it out:

Jay-Z - Reminder (prod. by Timbaland & J Roc):

So what do you think of this one? I know the opinions of "Off That" are pretty divided. How is it with this one?

BIG props the guys who hit us up with it (H2DaMan & DATIMBO).

hmmmm what happened to Jay & Tim bangers of yesteryears! .... this is avg at best if i'm being generous..

Only one Timbo track left to save the calabo....

H2DaMan was faster, he posted the link 14 min before DATIMBO, but whatever lol

Timbaland sucks. This beat could have been done by any producer.

Introduction said...

Seriously ^ shit like that is nonsense. If you want to get mad at anybody, get mad at Jay for picking these beats. Tim made more than 3 tracks for Jay and these are the ones he picked for HIS album.

Anonymous said...

It's not that bad but as Buddha says any producer would have made that beat. I've heard Timbaland beats that are kept simple in the past but this doesn't sound fresh enough. It may grow on me after a few more listens.

i agree this is crap.... :(

I was soooo disappointed when H2DaMan posted up the link i was so excited.... but then it was shit..

this song is rather annoyin.... can't listen to it anymore.... proper cringe.....

Has very little going for it, soz for negativity. :D

2 strikes for Jay and Tim.

hip hop really is a young mans game...

whoever is leaking these tracks is dumb as hell because this is not helping the BP3 buzz at all....

Haze said...

i think someone has the cd and is probz leaking them one everyday... or some twat has hacked into someones email account and ripped them off?

@Introduction: Has it ever occurred to you that maybe all the other beats sucked too? Let's face it, Tim has had a lot of duds recently.

All the tracks on the PCD album are recycled, "I Don't Need It" by Jamie Foxx is average and "Get Involved" by Ginuwine sure as hell doesn't compare to their old stuff.

The only recent beat that I've liked from Timbaland is "Intuition" by Keri Hilson and who knows when that was produced.

its safe to say that timbaland did about 8% of this track, give J-Roc 92% of what he's due. You're witnessing the aftermath of the absence of danja..

Venture said...

I agree with anonymous type 1203.

Anonymous said...

this sounds like one of Unrealz beats LOL

Danja wins

no no, this track is wack...the little violins get repetetive..and annoying after a while..no hook or nething. the off that track is waaaaayyy better

Frederick said...

lol @ danja wins... he did rip it on that Biggie track, and Jay-Z felt at home on that track. wonder why he didn't call on Danja ever since.

you guys sure this is a timbaland track? lol blueprint 3 my ass. this CD is going to be the fire... fire extinguisher, that is.

Kyle said...

J-Roc isn't part of the Royal Court, and he did not produce any of the songs you listed.

Anonymous said...

whats worse Tim putting his name on the credits for these tracks or jay-z paying "250 for these beats" LOL

Big-A said...

oh jesus help Timbo...he isnt bringing it anymore since a loooong time

Frederick said...

i blame jay, all the beats we've heard so far from blueprint 3 have been very short of spectacular, memorable, repeat-all-day-worthy, etc. as i type this i've forgotten how "off that" sounds and think of how shitty and out of place the D.O.A. beat was. i'm mad hot 97 stays playing that joint

Introduction said...

@ Buddha

I fail to see how the PCD tracks were recycled. Out of all the recent tracks Tim has done (it's not many) you like Intuition best? Your taste in Tim beats are severely lacking my friend. The man does not suck because of two beats jay picked for HIS album. Each to their own though. Reminder is hard to listen to I agree.

Kyle said...

@Introduction: How long have you been a Timbaland fan for? I ask this because a lot of newer fans find a lot of his old stuff boring. Intuition reminds me of his older beats.

You probably also think "One In A Million" by Aaliyah is boring huh? "Cheers 2 U" by Playa too? "I'll Do Anything/I'm Sorry" by Ginuwine?

It's not that my tastes are lacking, but that I can appreciate the simplicity of an old Tim track, which you clearly can't. Some of us listeners don't have to hear clicks and clacks left and right to enjoy the beat. Do you think "Two Sides Of A Story" by Ginuwine is wack too? I pity you if you do.

As for the PCD tracks...

Halo = Deliverance/What Goes Around/Rehab/Devil Wouldn't Recognize You

And the other ones just seemed like they've been heard a thousand times before.

Sigh....WHY!!!!?????!!!!???!!!???! :(

intuition was my favorite track on keris album too. it reminds me of Trizz Moneys "Got Money" beat on his myspace with that crazy spaghetti western sample. i promise ive listened to that track for an hour straight doing homework lol

i promise i can sing every riff she did on that joker lol i luv that jawn to death

when i listen back to missys "this is not a test" album probably my favorite tim album production wise he is really a simple dude production wise unlike danja who is a total arrangement/crazy transitions/genius melody line and countermelody/aww man i have that vsti but didnt think of using it that way/ how in the hell does he play his drum sequences type of producer LOL.

But he is F%$@#% KING at picking the PERFECT sounds everytime but even moreso of knowing how far to take it. His thought process of creating is one in a million like Dilla or Black Milk (cough cough). He's like the modern day J. J. Jeczalik from Art of Noise.

o by the way Brian Kidd is going to be at the guitar center in atlanta sep 30th for a cubase tutorial!!! someone go down there and get a pic of this BEAT GOD!!! i really think he is a myth sometimes lol

I dunno.
Reminder ain't for me.
The beat sounds a little like Daydreamin by Mobb Deep - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyi_tfjwNQo

@Big-A just curious as to know which was last the Timbo track u liked?

I honestly feel this beat isn't actually that bad and "Off That" too because the beat alone is still sick without the annoyin Jay Z. I've got almost the entire Timbo collection and I can relate to his simple oldies to this one in a way. Even a few beats he done for Missy sounded like this.

It's not amazing I agree though. PCD tracks are actually very well produced but they're not as memorable as other Tim tunes ofcourse.

I must stress this wasn't the album Freestyle Steve was raving about. It was the beats Tim did for The Game so keep a look out for that and I expect him to be 100% on his game for Shock Value 2. 60 tracks Tim did and DemolitionCrew stated on Twitter they're all FIRE!!! Timbo has NOT lost it so stop the negativity!

Anonymous said...

..and so did Danja

Introduction said...

@Buddha

I am in no way a new fan of Tim's. I'm sure I've been around the forums and blogs and whatnot's longer than alot of these people. Just ask Mr. J-Boogie.

With that being said, your assumption of me disliking Tim's older work is also false. I wouldn't be as much as a Tim fan today if I didn't appreciate and love his older work.

I definitely don't need every beat from him to be some sort of masterpiece in order for me to enjoy it either. The PCD tracks we just wont agree on...it's subjective, but I enjoyed them.

All I was saying was that saying that he sucks isn't far, especially when he really doesn't suck.
