Venture said...

When did synths become techno? I'm lost...

Venture said...

This is good beat, good song though... clean mix... a little fatiguing during the hook with the screaming mix, but nonetheless good track.

lol I'm on some japanese bossa nova shit, challenging myself by introducing myself to something different. for the first time since Red Carpet Massacre I feel like spending money on someone's album! funny how far a Google search can take you

but musicians always have a tendency to disappoint after a few years in the game. their hunger and ambition leaves them and they start the dreaded experimentation. Not that I'm upset with the techno-fication of pop music (take THAT, eminem... everyone listens to techno now, whether they know it or not), even though it seems like a cheap gimmick for the clubs. It's just not what we know Timbo for. take this beat for example, the synths are placed in a manner which makes you wonder how much better the song would have been without them

and, SoShy straight jocked Elise Estrada's "Ix-Nay" on that a cappella

LMFAO ROFL @ "super mario just died ass beat"

and someone explain to me the moaning. this ain't "scream"

Anonymous said...

you're right :D there's the same style in that ix-nay track...nice find...timbo lost his originality

Anonymous said...

i am sorry i dont know why people are complaining about this track...its beyond awesome...great beat, great lyrics, funny hook, good dance song...enough said...

Anonymous said...

you guys should delete timnmagoos comment to piss him off again... lol he is so easy

this is nice to hear this track in hi qu

Frederick said...

lol if you found out Danja happened to co-produce on this track, you'd be the first to say, "That's why the synths sounded so cheap!"

Tim jocked Elise on his verses, too lmfao... I just forgot to notice since he's a male and he had the chorus, which sounds different

This song will cease to be relevant to me after October 31st (or Dia De Los Muertos), tho. I swear, when I got my hands on the SV1 instrumentals, I was at least nuts about a few of them. This one, it was just, let me add it to the collection just because. The synths sound like faux Danja lol.

I actually JUST remixed this song today.

I want SoShy to be in the cover...
she's extremely HOT!!!
The song was a little bit disappointing but it's gonna be a hit(not 100% sure about it tho)...
wonder if the same complaining happened when "The way i are" premiered before two years....

He should just start searching fro a new sound for his beats....
is he not smart enough to notice that he should.....

I think people here are fukn deaf... that's all i have to say.. oh and astro i only thought ur percussion was good nuff said

It's funny how people hate on SV2 already after hearing 1 track of the album. Seriously grow up.

Anonymous said...

Kenny of Astro that remix is amazing!!! lol in some ways it's got a more Vampire ring to it than this timbo one. I think if a competition were to start now, you would win hands down!

Send us a link!

Frederick said...

not that I remember... The Way I Are was hot to me... this just seems like it's trying to copy that success

+ nobody's doubting Timbaland's intelligence here... just that the song is one for the Sheeple and not true Timbaland fans who know what he's capable of. if you like cars, you can equate this to Audi building a Camry to raise sales. in the process it alienates its original audience, but makes grips of cash

LMFAO @ "Night At the roxbury ass beat"

This is the shit!! I f***ing love it, especially that little synthsound in the chorus=) Go Timbo!!

Venture said...

You all are reading way too much into this. Art is subjective, either you like it or not.

Please no self promos in the comment area everyone from now on, they will be deleted. Send our email links to your remixes, etc... to our email please.

Thanks

Weak song, not a fan of what's been done to the vocals, and the beat isn't anything new

Venture said...

Epic, do we need new music, or good music? I'm not disagreeing or agreeing with you, I'm asking your thoughts.

Kenny from Astro said...

Sorry man, I was in no way trying to promote myself, but there's no harm in sharing man. it's all in enjoyment.

but it won't happen again, my bad.

I guess I'll send the remix to your email?

epic said...

V, imo both

To me, if somebody is putting out more new material, they should be progressively putting out better music.

Seems like Tim is trying too much for the balance, but isn't coming out with something good enough, and subsequently new enough to "shock" people as much as, if not more than, his first shock value did.

Sounds like Tim is trying to replace what danja contributed with the melodies himself, and it isn't working out as well as he'd hope.

Kenny from Astro said...

It may even be the consideration that Tim has been producing SO much for other artist between his Shock Value to now so the ideas aren't popping in fresh for him.

Venture said...

Its no problem Kenny! ^_^

Its just that people come here don't contribute regularly, then post links... and that turns us off. But ya, send it to our email.

Epic, I hear you. But, as a fellow producer, you I assume know that good music comes when the composer or producer sits there and just want to make good music. I can sit down and be like "i wanna create a new sound", and it will end up sounding like tree poop. But I see what you saying.

Also, those "faux Danja" sounds are provided by J Roc. Too bad Danja didn't stick with his own sound and progress on it... he is going for a Drumma Boy esque sound as of late.

And also, those "Danja" sounds... yall gotta understand... in defense of J Roc... yah... I know... a synth is a synth... when you program your own synth, then its yours, but it isn't the synths that are used... its how you use them... and yah J Roc used some minor chords in this track with the pads, but that doesn't mean "Danja" sound, or even that arpeggio during the hook... those are synths that been around for a while yall...

Danja is Danja, J-Roc is J-Roc... who do I prefer? D-d-d-d-d-d-Danja...

epic said...

Of course Tim won't just make a new sound by snapping his fingers, but this is Timbaland we're talking about, he's changed the sound of the radio and urban music a couple times already. He knows how drastic of a change it has to be to have a "new sound"

We don't know those sounds are provided by J-Roc, but even if they are, it sounds like he's trying to emulate Danja's style while playing them

I agree with you on the preferring Danja though, to me they're one of the best production duos in urban music, and while I can understand why Danja wanted to branch out on his own, when you're making music THAT good together, it seems a shame to stop. Tim/Danja/JT, we need more songs from the 3 of em together.

epic said...

@Kenny, that's true that he's been producing alot for other artists, but there hasn't really been a "new sound" with them either.

People in Tim's camp have been saying he saved all the good beats for SV2 though, so hopefully he can pull out another big album

Frederick said...

@ Venture: Danja's "Drumma Boy-esque phase" started with T.I.'S "Hurt", which came out in 2007, so depending on your point of view, chicken or egg. I'd say Danja was first... just took a while to capitalize on a sound in his library. Imagine if he'd done the same thing with the "Beautiful Boy"/"Bore Me (Yawn)", and used that sound more than twice. In other words, time for him to change it up again. Whitney was a step in the right direction.

Although, it is reaffirming to hear people still listening to "Knock Me Down". The more I listen to Danja songs, the less like a Drumma Boy sound his seems. And, the more I listen to them, the more I realize how gimmicky "Morning After Dark" is.

And, @ EPIC, I could care less whether Danja works with Tim OR JT on another project, because he's shown us that he could do the same thing without either of them (see Corte Ellis "Beautiful Love"). The variable here is Danja... everything else is a constant. Tim comes in, provides heavy-hitting drums and maybe beatboxes, Justin lays half-brained lyrical content (aka lyrics that he didn't write down and revise), everyone's happy.

Anonymous said...

@ Frederick. Is that Corte Ellis track confirmed Danja production?? I got it too and it's pretty dope!

Frederick said...

Even if it hasn't been confirmed, it's still a Danja track. I don't see how it could possibly be ANYONE else.

Venture said...

Fred, so you are saying Danja is not sounding like Drumma Boy as of late? Hurt to me did not sound like Drumma, it just sounded like an unidentified, yet hard beat... like it didn't have a sound signature on it.

Injay said...

@Frederick @Venture Even on T.I Vs. T.I.P, Danja's tracks were imo not drumma boy sounding and were different then what he is making lately which has a drumma boy kinda thing going on IE Hell of A Life

Venture said...

I agree.

Kenny From Astro said...

Timbaland says a lot of things, he tried to quote on Beaterator that it truly is a "beatmaking" machine, I had my hands on the game for quite some time, the sounds are more cheap than any modern keyboard in existence, quote me on that.

His so called "sounds" are merely the most basic synths you can imagine, from a pure round saw to a cheap ever so familiar square synth.

Tim may also even enjoy the current sound right now so he stuck with it, just because it is Timbaland on the album, does not mean it HAS to be different, he does what he likes, not what we want or like.

The only thing I want to hear from shock value 2 is that the songs have infinite replay value, like a classic.

Anonymous said...

its not that tim likes it its that he does his little readouts and charts to see what "kids these days" listen to and if u listen to the radio its mostly techno shit. Every song to me has the same techno ass beat! Everything on the radio is techno now. Those LMFAO songs, that "Sexy Bitch" song, "Just Dance", "Right Round" they all have similar techno sounding beats and Tim is just following the herd. He even has a song called "Ghetto Techno". I LOVE tim but hes gettin wack.
:/

Venture said...

I'm sorry... I make Techno... do you guys know what Techno sound like? Oh my lord... nothing on the urban/pop stations sound like Techno. Arps do not equal techno, synth usage does not equal techno... I ain't saying that is what yall is saying, I'm just saying... yall keep on throwing the word "Techno" around and almost throwing it around to say thats the cause of a lot of wack music.

Wow...

Anonymous said...

i dont mean actual techno. i meant to say like techno influenced. but i get wat ur saying..

Frederick said...

"GHETTO TECHNO" lmfao Jay-Z started it

@ Venture, I'm saying that Danja pulled a sound from his library, all the way from 2007. "Hurt" (and the rest of the T.I. songs from then), and his 2009 "Drumma Boy" songs all have a similar drums with underlying ticky-ticky-tick pattern. It's just, in 2009 you can tell because he's gone less synthy hip-hop with it.

Not necessarily that he's started to sound different, because he produced Esmee's "Casanova" around the same time he was working with Wyld on his 2009 projects, which people use to bolster the argument that Danja's biting Drumma Boy.

Obviously IDK much about Drumma Boy, had to YouTube some of his beats. And, everything I just typed is roundabout bullshit.

kenny said...

Venture, no point in trying to argue with them man, it's always endless lol, but yeah, everyone has the wrong idea about techno, Techno is a genre to hold ALL techno genres such as trance, hardstyle, dubstep, house, electro, powerpop.

but yes, people, every sound timbaland uses NOW has been being used for years in techno, an arp, gate, everything has already been previously used, music is universal.
