The Buzz is in... Shock Value 2!

Buzzed!

Hello Buzzers, like we said, you do a nice review of the album, and we will post it up. We will do this time and time when we see reaction to a album (sometimes songs) is high, heavily opinionated, or just flat out divisive. Remember, yall are the first to review this album over the net! :)

Here are some of the buzzviews (to be updated frequently):

"Timbaland Presents: Shock Value II

Rating: 8.5/10
Grade: A-

First off, I plan to buy the album on December 8th I was impressed with the overall sound of the album even after all the hype, I'm not gonna lie with all the hype and the tracks that have been leaking as of lately I wasn't really gaining anticipation as much. I was kind've expecting it to be a bust, but I gotta say the album sounds really, really good and there are some gems on this album

Tracks:

1: Intro

Beat is CRAZY!!!, We need it in FULL Tim!!!! Who produced this beat tho Felli Fel or Tim? If this track was longer I would've bumped my rating up to a 9.2/10!!!!

2: Carry Out

Should've been Crazy Girl INSTEAD! But Carry Out is subpar at best. Still catchy tho

3: Lose Control

JoJo sounds grown! Sound is good, catchy track! Who is the guy featured towards the end of the track, voice sounds reaaal familiar, Bubba Sparxx? Good song. Single Quality? Naah

4: Meet In Tha Middle

I LOVE THIS SONG!!! POLOW on a Tim album, you know this song is huge! Would love for this to be released as a single, it's real good! This song itself, gets a 10/10!!!! It sounds good on quality speakers!

5: Say Something

Great R&B record from Tim. I honestly didn't think Tim had the R&B touch anymore, but he proved me wrong on this track. It's still not Ginuwine quality tho but still a good track for Drake, just look at its commercial success so far!

6: Tomorrow In A Bottle

Song is great. Beat doesn't sound as if Chad Kroeger should be on it, but...well he is...I think putting him on the chorus was where he should be, if at all on the track.

7: We Belong To The Music

Will have GREAT COMMERCIAL SUCCESS! Teeny boppers gonna eat this right up! He will attract a whole new crowd with this track. Kind've catchy, quite honestly, no homo.

8: Morning After Dark

I DO NOT like Nelly Furtado on this track. Her verse sounds so thrown into the mix. She sounds out of place on the track. SoShy and Tim sound good tho. Love the breakdown at the end of the track.

9: If We Ever Meet Again

I don't understand all the hype behind this track. Song is okay, single quality, maybe. It has potential to have radio success. I just don't like it as much as the hype behind the track was speculated to be. The beat towards the end of the track sounds great tho.

10: Can You Feel It

My 2nd Favorite track on the album. This song is soo catchy. Techno/Trance vibe to it, what can I say, I dig it! Great song, single quality, I would love to see it get radio play!

11: Ease Off The Liquor

Great club record. Heard it the other night in the club. Sounds great on loud speakers with people dancing to it.

12: Undertow

Nice, mellow, Fray track. Sounds good in higher quality than the leaked version a couple of weeks ago. I like this track a lot because its so different than what Tim usually would produce.

13: Timothy Where You Been

Jet, cool, Tim, cool. Laid back vibe to the track, ILL. Tim rapping, eehhh well it is what it is. Cool that he gives us a run-down of his legacy and successful career. Attitude wrote good lyrics for Tim to try and rap, as usual.

14: Long Way Down

Sounds good. I'm gonna put this out there after listening to this track I DISAGREE with Daughtry's statement where he said they should do their next album with Timbaland. Naaaah Daughtry stick with what ya'll doing now, no need for change.

15: Marchin' On (+Timbaland's Drums)

Great song WITH Timbaland's drums. Altho the OneRepublic (Timbalandless) track sounded good. But Tim's drums go great with the song. Not Apologize material but we can expect that kind've caliber that song is and will always be a classic.

16: The One I Love

Sounds better in higher quality. Keri sounds great on the track. Wish Chris Brown's verse was included I think his verse fit the track. D.O.E. always delivers! Thats the dude!

17: Symphony

Aaaaaah finally, an old Deliverance-esque track from the early 2000s. Sounds great, good to hear that Tim still has that capability. Bubba Sparxx should've been on this track. Attitude sounds awesome on the track, I am still waiting on that Attitude debut album T.I.M. I need that! Heard a few cuts from it, and my anticipation for the album is so high." - SShearer

"I'm a BIG TIM FAN but I think the hottest songs are the ones that leaked (Ease Off The Liquor) (Say Somethin'). On this album, when Tim takes the dance route it's pretty pleasing to the ear. The rest is pretty average. If you haven't heard the leaks you may really enjoy the album. Musically he usually changes the game, but not so much this time around. The rock tracks kinda go wrong after a couple minutes. It's still worth buyin', was expectin' more shock though.

Woulda been nice if Beyonce had recorded the Keri & Jay Z track "Rumors" (She Prob Feel Some Kinda Way About Keri's Diss). It woulda been a hot record to include though. Would love to hear Tim collab with Niki Minaj, Teyana, Muffy, Melanie Fiona, Rihanna, M.I.A agian, Kelis, Some of the orginal crew would be nice too... Playa, Missy, Tweet ,Ginuwine, Magoo. Nicole. 702... Somethin' Unreleased From Aaliyah or even a sample woulda been HOT!!!

BUT I MUST SAY...
BRANDY DID THE DAMN THANG!
(Sounded Authenic/Not Forced)
(Meet In The Middle, Symphony)

Worth A Listen (Just My Opinion)
Only commenting on the songz I liked and those that hadn't leaked prior to the album leak...

-Lose Control feat. Jo Jo
Hot Beat/Catchy Melody/Sing-A -Long Track/Jo Jo sound good as usual.

-If We Ever Meet Agian
feat. Katy Perry
Love It! /The Dance Side of Timbo/ Love How The Beat Changes Up!

-Can You Feel It feat. Esthero & Sebastian
Hot Dance Record/ This Album's "The Way I Are"

-Where You Been feat. Jet
Sounds like somethin off of Bubba's"Deliverance Album/ Country Feel/ Nice Laid Back Joint

-Marching On feat. One Republic
Dope/ Vocals are hot!/Slight Dance Feel"

"1-Intro- a very promising beat.an appetizer to a new kind of dish.

2-Carry Out- what are u gonna say, besides its JT & Timbo at their best. the flow is a killer.

3-Loose Control- seems a bit out of place, but its a good listen. jojo can definitely carry the track.

4-Meet Me In The middle- oh lord, where has tim been all these years.one of the best beats
in the album.brand new if u get what am saying.hottttttttttttt

5-Say Something- this is probably one of the weakest tracks on the album. i expected a lot from Drake and Timbaland.

6-Tomorrow In a Bottle- only timbo can make chad kroeger sound this good.another explosive track with an amazing production.one of the best in the album

7-We Belong To The Music- i have never thought i'd be listening to miley and actually enjoying it. great track.

8-Morning After Dark- awesome production.this why timbo is the best.
layers and layers of pure awesomeness.

9-If We Ever Meet Again- at this point timbo seems unstoppable. katy brings it at a new level.
music will never be the same again.

10-Can You Feel It- i can definitely feel it.this track is insane. where does Timbaland come up with these beats? awesome, awesome, awesome.did i mention it is awesome.

11-Ease Of The Liquor- each one of ur ears will literally start dancing, and ur waist will follow.
a club smasher.blazing hottttt.

12-Undertow- definitely the next apologize.yes i said it. simple, but genious.the fray and esthero rock it all the way. not ur usual timbo sound.astonishing. this should be a sure hit.

13-Timothy,where have you been- where were you timbo?thank god ur back. an awesome guitar driven melody, that will have u singing along as if u were in a trance.

14-Long Way Down- Timbo rocks like he has never rocked before. this is what alternative is,and not what it should be. this is something different.daughtry never sounded like this.bravo.

15-Marchin On- a remix for the original one republic song.the original song is one of my favourite on the album.honestly the remix has its good aspects and bad ones.timbo made it too fast.may have added too many spices that may have overexcited my senses. i think the origina had its flaws, but so does the remix. they should've met somewhere in the middle. is there a glitch at 2:55,or is it just me?

16-The One I Love- another great dance track that should keep u dancing for a while.
definitely better without chris brown.

17-Symphony- Literally ending with a bang.sizzling and will burn you. this album is definitely better than SV1. timbo holds nothing, except Crazy Girl. all in all,the best album in the market.no,its the best album this year.

rating 9.7/10.

please support timbo and buy the album."

2: Carry Out: Classic JT/Timbo The beat is great! They both take it to another level 9.5/10

3: Lose Control: Super great song to just jam to! The melody works perfectly and JoJo is the artist for the song. THE ARTIST SOUNDS LIKE TOO $HORT!!! 9/10

4: Meet Me In The Middle: Brandy is Brand New! Dfklajdfjklawekl! Timbo goes classic on this one. Brandy does her thing and then goes all out! Definitely doesn’t sound like her at all. Like it! 8.5/10

5: Say Somethin: One of my favorite tracks of the album. Drake does his thing through singin and rappin and then Timbo works magic with that sample..it leaves me in a trance!! 9.5/10

6: Tomorrow In A Bottle: The voice is frickin cool!! The artists could have sounded way better though! Chad was himself; I’ve never been fond of his voice but it works somewhat. One of those unique tracks that mixes rock and pop. 8/10

7: We Belong To The Music: Thought it was weird at first. Then it grew on me. And now I like it!! Fml hahahaha totally different and chill 8.5/10

8: Morning After Dark: I went vampire and already sucked the life out of the song hahaha…72 listens hahahaha. Great song 9/10

9: If We Ever Meet Again: The beat is totally chill. Katy sounds great with Tims autotune! Never knew she was this good!! 9/10

10: Can You Feel It: oh wow this song is so in tune with what I imagined this album would be like. Timbo took it to another level here!! Esthero is fucking hot on this song!! 9.5/10

11: Ease Off The Liquor: awesome ass song!!! Its off the richter!! 9.5/10

12: Undertow: this song could have been better. To me its one of the weakest songs of the album. Its still taking me some time to get used to it and ive been listening to it ever since it leaked. 7/10

13: Timothy (Where Have You Been): At first this song seemed boring..THEN IT FUCKING BLEW MY MIND!!! Theres something about it that makes me just stand back and say wow to the beat and it’s the perfect song where Timbo shows his credits and resume for what it has always been = genius!! So far this is gonna be the song im gonna listen to for life! TIMBO FOR LIFE!!! Btw..i don’t understand the part where the jet guy sings that she cried in the kitchen?? What?? Haha someone explain lol. There was talk of Melody Thornton and if she was on the album this would be the song! 10/10

14: Long Way Down: Daughtry is amazing on this song!! Definitely one of my favorites!!! 9.5/10

15: Marchin On: I honestly think that 1R just shipped this song to timbo and he like literally remixed it.. which I don’t like as much as how he could have transformed this song. But the song was one of my favorites on Waking up and is furthermore one of my favorites on SV2 9/10

16: The One I Love (Maniac): the ONE track Keri was on and she murdered the track! Klasdjfake! Although the beat wasn’t as aggressive as the other tracks it was still good. Needed some Missy. DOE was arright. 8/10

17: Symphony: This song is an alright song. It could have been better but I still love it. Attitude is my shit! DOE and Brandy did well. Im likin Brandys new side XD 8.5/10

Missing:

Crazy Girl should have been on the album
Talk That should have been the album
Needs some James Fauntleroy & Missy E

I give the album 9.5/10!!! Definitely one of my favorites!!!" - haveacow21

We Belong To The Music And If We Ever Meet Again Is Available On Itunes Now!

(Part 1)

The album is very good. Is it better than SV1?? Can you really compare? No doubt SV2 is more pop than SV1, we know that. A lot of tracks to enjoy but what's missing is a genuine 'shock value' sound like a Way I Are.

1. Intro

The beat has an element of Ayo Technology about it. Great introduction to the album but I would like the track to be in FULL! This could have been a beat with genuine 'shock value'. 9/10

2. Carry Out

Timbo went for a mid-tempo beat. It sounds too plain at first but really kicks in with a crazy synth on the hook. Best part of the track when JT is backed by Timbo's deep voice. You have the softy tone of JT's and Timbo's deep voice singing the same lyrics simultaneously. HOT! Drum arrangements are CRAZY on good speakers, somewhat like "I'm Really Hot" - Missy Elliot. One of the best tracks on the album. 9.2/10

3. Lose Control - a fun pop tune. 7.5/10

4. Meet In The Middle - Great tune! Bran Nu is one of the highlights on this album. 8.5/10

5. Say Something

A typical R&B song, with a repetitive but catchy melody. Drake delivers better on the hook and Timbo does great on his verse. 8/10

6. Tommorrow In The Bottle

One of my favorite tracks on SV2. The more I listen to this, the better it gets! Beat is hard and typical Timbo vocals echoing in the background to Chad Kroeger's rocking voice on the hook. 9.5/10

7. We Belong To The Music

For me probably the weakest track on the album. It's too corny for my liking. It's catchy in parts but this was a commercial move by Timbo more than anything no matter how much he likes to compare Miley with Justin Timberlake lol. 5/10

Bilza said...

(Part 2)

8. Morning After Dark

After I saw the video of Timbo's comical acting and typically funny facial expressions lol, I haven't been able to get this song out of my head! One of the best beats on the album. Auto-tune or not, the vocals are pretty decent. The gorgeous SoShy provides the better vocals throughout though. 9.2/10

9. If We Ever Meet Again

The best part about this track is towards the end with the beat switch. The hook is catchy but overall one of the weakest tracks on the album. 6/10

10. Can You Feel It

"Can you feeeeel it!" Timbo on the hook is sick! One of the best on the album. This will get alot of air play. A very catchy dance tune! 9/10

11. Ease off the Liqour

Beat is CRAZY! Auto-tune messes it up somewhat because it wasn't necessary. Play this in your car or a club, turn the sound up and start rocking. Middle of the track, beat switch into more Mexican style, very nice! 9/10

12. Undertow

This is no Apologize but it's nice. A chill out tune more than anything. For me, this is what makes SV2 so unique, the variety of genres and this track epitomizes Timbo's approach for this album. 8/10

13. Timothy Where You Been

This is one of the most interesting tracks. A laid back song about, well, Timothy lol and his time in the music industry. Jet provide catchy vocals on the chorus. The talented Attitude writes the lyrics - a run down of Timbo's legacy and just listening to it brings back fond memories of wonderful Timbo music. Props to Attitude who deserves so much credit for writing Timbo's lyrics over the years. Don't sleep on the dude! 8/10

14. Long Way Down

A good rock tune for all you rock fans out there. I for one used to enjoy my rock music but I do lose interest in this track after a while. Since I've listened to Timbaland over the years, I've abandoned a lot of rock music except for Chris Cornell's great album "Scream". Perhaps that explains it lol. 7.5/10

15. Marching On (Timbo Remix)

Like Apologize, Timbo does the drum beat and it goes hard and ofcourse sounds better than the original on OneRepublic's album. I dig this tune but doesn't match the uniqueness of Apologize which will perhaps never be surpassed. 8.5/10

16. The One I Love

I dig it! However, I like the version with the Chris Brown verse who was perhaps the highlight on the track. Takes a little time to get going but the beat sure goes hard after that. Looking forward to the instrumental. 8.5/10

17. Symphony

What a way to end the album! It's like ending a concert with one final banger! HOT beat, almost old skool Timbo and I love how the artists featuring on the track introduce each other on the hook! CRAZY!!! Bran'Nu murders it! 10/10

Rating: 8.5/10
Grade: B+

For me a good album requires me to replay the songs again and again, and this to some extent has that quality when it comes to some of the tracks. SV2 is very good without that special uniqueness in sound like we had on SV1. That said SV1 was never my favorite album as I still prefer the Timbo of old during the Beat Club, Ginuwine, Bubba Sparxx and Magoo days.

Kenny said...

Mexican style? hmph. I feel that the only reason we do not appreciate Timbaland tracks(newer ones) is simply because we are stuck comparing them to his older tracks, even if we say we are not, no matter what we are, because when I had shown this album to a couple friends (not timbaland fans, just general audioheads) they thought the tracks were great, we are just too stuck on Timbaland's past...

Anonymous said...

I Agree with kenny. This Album at first was like ehh but it grew on me and now i love it. Takes time develope the rhythm of the song. I don't think its a big deal that he picked Miley Cyrus that ppl Keep complaining about. Timbo knows what hes doing and who has potential. Hes not just delivering music to his old fans but hes doing this for ppl who love these artist as well. Move on and if you love his old stuff "Symphony" is the perfect song! My Favorite track is "Can You Feel It?".

Eric Gallais said...

Hi !

for me this album is good but not excellent !
it's not shock value 1 which was a real surprise ...
why having Miley Cirus ....it sounds so marketing !!!
for a non american her voice sounds terrible !
but I'm still fan
thanks

1.Intro

Haha i love the beat so much with that nintendo sound. Great intro

Rating 10/10

2.Carry Out

What can I say? Its the perfect song for Timbo and Justin doin what they do.

Rating 8/10

3.Lose Control

At first i was like wth is this? i didn't like it. Then i gave it another listen starting to grow on it and im like WOW THIS is such a good happy groove song. Its like that chill hang out song.

8/10

4.Meet In Tha Middle

Hmm this song has a banging beat to it and i like the msg to it saying to lets just be on the same side and make middle ground like it says Gotta Meet in Tha Middle!

7/10

5.Say Something

Not my kinda song but they both kill it rap wise. Its a chill song. Sounds like a drake song which is good. Not a bad song tho.

6.5/10

6.Tomorrow in the bottle

This song is funny cuz it made chad sound kinda nysyncishh lol i can put this song to a "Bye bye bye" Video. Its a good song tho! the "all i wanna do is make up" reminds me of timbos old stuff.

8/10

7.We Belong To The Music

Sounds like a miley song with a little twist to it from timbo. I really find this song catchy. Far from everyones complaints just cuz she is MILEY CYRUS doesn't mean u look down on her. its a fun song.

8/10

8.Morning After Dark

I was nearly addicted to this song when it first came out. Couldn't get enough of it. Defintely stands out like timbaland says. Great first single. Luv it.

9/10

9.If We Ever Meet Again

I love this song alot its so powerful. Another fun lala song which everyone enjoys fun songs sometimes. The Melody carrys you in the song. I can see this as a single.

9/10

10. Can you Feel It

HELL YEAH I CAN FEEL IT! alot of ppl put this as one of there favs! u dont need this song to grow on you. It automaically hooks you right from the start. Sounds like a video game thats from megaman or some old game. This song is extremely catchy. Perfect song for some laser lights club thats flashy! I Can see this as a hit single for sure!

10/10

11.Ease Off The Liquor

One thing I must say this song is all about the beat the music. It changes up so much that you can just listen to the instrumental and enjoy it. I like the way timbaland sang this one. Club beat it is and my god how it transform into latin music at the end is just superb. This song is a club banger!

9/10

12.Undertow

It does sound just like apologize alot. Its pretty friendly if it was on radio. Slow song like this gotta be a single sometime to show the calm sound of the album. Its perfect to match up to apologize. I didn't think he could do another one like it..but proved me wrong.

9.5/10

13.Timothy

This song is soo cool. All about timbaland its awsome how it was made. Relaxing chill song

8/10

14.Long Way Down

The beginning of this song automatically sets you off thats it gonna be the shyt. Beat sounds like an old Timbo song. This album sounds more old school beats than shock value I so i dont see why theres so much complaining. This song is hawt tho its hard to make a beat to rock song you must realize that.

9/10

15. Marching On Remix

lol Sounds cool what can i say? its an excellent remixx :D

7/10

16.The One I Love

I was hoping keri would be more popish but i think we seen enuff of that so i guess timbo wants to throw out more of an Urban Side Which is awsome! Not a bad song

7/10

17.Symphony

All for the old school timbo lovers. This song is for you! I was listening to his old stuff today. Man this is like the perfect old school Timbo Song. I have to give this much praise for him PROVING to u babyzz that he can still DO IT like he use to! This is like the shut u up SONG!

10/10

Unknown said...

one shut u up song is not enough. anyways we should let perez hilton review this. oh wait let big-A give it a pro review. All the reviews i've seen up to now are bias or they dun wanna hurt timmy's feelings. (oh don't forget venture mentioned JRoc was on these.. and i speculate he did all the melodies heee heeee)

Bilza said...

@Dots why dont you give some anti-Timbo review to balance it out?

Come on, what you waiting for, give some Timbo or JRoc bashing! I dont mind reading it. If I was so far up Timbo's arse, I wouldn't be so negative about the Miley and Katy Perry joints. Get on with it and stop moaning. Anyway, depends on music taste and clearly with ur narrow minded point of view that you only listen to one type of music.

Unknown said...

I prolly listen to a whole lot more stuff then you do bilza, centered in the caribbean, u get all the genres u never heard about. and i don't need to put no negative comments on any of the songs. all i'm saying is you sure as hell know this album wasn't as great as SV1 yet all you pass it up as being amazing. the only reason that is cause the sounds are a tad bit fatter. anyways i don't have time to write anything to any track. i'm busy studying for a damn exam.

oooh somoene post this up..

Bilza said...

@Dots I cant speak for others but I seriously dont think this or SV1 is as amazing as Timbo's old stuff. Just read my conclusion. Some and only some of the tracks on SV2 I prefer than some on SV1. SV1 wins it because of a few tracks, and I'm sure people know the tracks that first come to mind. SV2 is not as bad as you like to claim. It's an exaggeration to call this album aweful. I honestly feel there's some fine pieces of work on that album.

I'm betting apart from a few tracks, nobody listens to that SV1 album no more. It's all about the era of Beat Club and before that for most original Timbo fans like me.

Anonymous said...

And we cannot expect timbo's old stuff either because this is 2009 now hes not gonna go back to it hes moving foward where he can reach out to ppl. Only ppl he wud please is his old fans instead of pleasing more audience. Im not saying SV2 is the best album in the world but its listenable. What were ppl gonna expect with Artist like Katy , Miley , JoJo And Rock artist on the album. This obviously was gonna have more pop than hiphop. I can say SV1 had more Hiphop. Music is changing so timbaland has to go along with it...maybe hes bored of doing the same ol thing he use to do. More sounds and technology for him to fool around with.

even though i dislike miley,i got to say the her song is actually very good, and very interesting.
if u listen to the core synths and melody ull be surprised as to y timbo
put the best part of the song in the background.
listen to the strings and that echoing sound.its fishing amazing.
reminds me of "my love".
i wish he could release the instrumental to it.

everyone who's a timbo fan should go buy his album and support him.

I found most of this meta reviews to wreak of fanboyism for the most part but, it's always interesting to read other peoples points of view.

I gave SV2 a 4 out of 10 personally. Being as how none of the songs on the album moved me to listen to them a second time after.

The idea of diverse pop album isn't a bad one it's just that the execution was mediocre at best. In comparison with not just Tim and co's own body of work but the featured artists as well.

In fact, by definition SV2 isn't even a pop album. It's a album that desperately wants to be pop that features a ton of pop artists in order to present the image that it is...or try to.

Ultimately the album falls flat in every way possible and for all intents purposes is the worst mainstream album I have bothered to listen to this year. Alicia Keys new disc is the only rival for the disappointment I feel when I think of SV2.
