Timbaland feat. Lyrica Anderson - "Mentally"

For the 6th installment of TimbalandThursdays, Timbo gives away one of the tracks he did with the new MG signee, Lyrica Anderson (introduced her here)! "Mentally" feat. Lyrica, with, what Timbo says, has that Shock Value 2 Pop feel.
Check it out:

Say what you want, but the drums KNOCK!! lol (though auto-tune could be left away)

What do you guys think of this?

Auto tune can be left away but again, again why is Timbo singing anyway?

As for this track, I'm hoping I wont hear another pop song again especially on his new project because this is a recurrence of SV2. If I was being positive I would only say that this is only marginally better than the Katy Perry or Jojo joints but that's just being kind.

"Disney Productions" is exactly how I would describe Timbo's taste in music these days.

With all due respect to Lyrica, it's said that she wrote tracks for Hannah Montana and for bloody Disney! Tim stans be serious and ask yourself, is this what we really want?

he said on his twitter that this is more sv2 type song but yeah i agree he needs to stop singing he needs to go back to 90s-2008 type beats (that dark mystic vibe he did in the days whit danja and even before danja but this days auto tune and disnye type beats whit tim singin come this is killing him... he allways told us he wants to be diffrent from other producers and that he wants to give us new sounds somting attractive and he was doing a good job until danja left in 2008 now he is doing the opeset...

Drums: cool
vocal: not so much. most ppl have moved on from autotune (except B.E.P... and i don't like anything they've done recently). Timbo should move on as well, or at least realize that it's not an effect that should be maintained throughout a song: it would be ok if it was to add small bits in a chorus or in the background.

Overall, it doesn't add up to a good enough song. As in, I would skip this pretty much every time if it came up on shuffle.

I'm glad to have new timbo hopefully with more followers he will drop dope tracks everyday

I like danja like the next fan,but must he come up every time tim does a track or vice versa. He is unpredictable i'm keeping an open mind plus the fact i might have to deploy again to the ghan this timbo thursday was some of the best news i received since i been back

^ word. I wish they'd end the war, though. Now that the news doesn't cover it as much, I feel like it could go on another decade, or even longer.

But, it's futile to mention Danja. The both of them still produce, and we still have their co-productions to listen to if we want. It's not like someone came in your house and replaced your copy of Shock Value with Timbo Thursday tracks.

It helps coming back to songs a week later. "You Lied, You Cheated" sounded so much better to me today for some reason.

I have to say it. This sounds awful. Auto-Tune is not Tim's friend. His singing or whatever it is is what I'd imagine a mildly mentally challenged person would sound like if they were getting raped up the ass without lube. :/

aiight whoever B is youre so wrong...wtf...if you imagined a handicapped kid getting raped then you really need to seek help...

this song is not bad...it sounds like some Keri stuff...from SV

and all the haters need to stop already...yall know you liked SV2...yall just dont want to admit it...foolish pride is a sign of immaturity

I swear y'all are too harsh, this track is not as bad as y'all making it out to be except for tim's singing part. (autotune has to GO!)

Nerdwithflow said...

Agree with Swan. Timbo needs to stop with the auto-tune. Its not for him. He should just produce and maybe rap at most. Singing is not his thing. He can do some background vocals but that's about it. Lyrica Anderson isn't that bad. I think her singing is suited for this song. So quit hating everybody. This song is not that bad. GO TIMBO!!!

It's SV2 style like he said i'm more into the ''swat dat fly'',''don't blow my high'',''round da way tim'',''808'',''warped'' tracks he has produced lately those are the types i'm looking forward to and the different artists he is going to work with or hasn't i'm excited to tell you the truth.

For the record; I stopped listening to SV2 less than 3 days after it came out. That says it all.

2008 to present Tim has not held my interest. Thank gawd for his huge back catalog.

i totaly agree whit Felix

I agree with you b lol. Thank god for his entire body of work because if I had heard this SV stuff first back in 96 I would not have been much of a fan at all. I LOVE almost every song he has ever done except some of the ones he's done in the past few years. His older beats are so interesting and fun to listen to. I love to set my speakers so I can hear all the background sounds out loud for Missy and Tim's songs!

I have no problem with him doing pop songs because the ones he did years ago were all hot. It just seems these days his songs sound a bit bland and ordinary. I'm not hating on the man at all because I'm such a huge fan, but I believe he should hear what his fans have to say so he can give us what we want lol.

IF Tim continues to sing, let's hope he doesn't do away with pitch correction entirely, because he needs it. His singing sounds awful on this song even with Autotune on full force. This track musically destroys most (if not all) of what Tim's placed on albums lately. Nice work aside from Tim's vocals.
