I heard, 60 submissions, and around 7 or so were mine. I know I shouldn't be getting mad, but it's the fact I sent in some undeniably great tracks.... but then when I reviewed the mixtape; all I heard were just some normal beats you'd hear anywhere else. (few were original and good). What fathoms me the most is my friend Ruben, I know him personally and we are good friends. I read the rules of submission carefully. Submissions are due 5 days before release, although the mixtape was released on a delay. You still added his submission to the mixtape, there is no way in hell out of 60 submissions, Ruben out of all submissions made the cut.
Please all haters, please stay, you see they got the google ads up, that means you hate = support = money. timnmagoo, i swear... you must be a homo, stop craving venture dick... lol you fag bag.
Venture, I don't know what went down during the track choice for the mixtape. I'll be straight up though, the tracklist for this month is garbage. I'm sure people can agree with me on this.
I'm calling out ONLY the producer features on this tape.
First track.
Stick Shift - The beat is in every plain, the synth choice is horrible. they're too soft, the drums are not even mixed, they are buried deep under the synths, the vocals of the "Hey!" can fit with the song but it can be repetitive. The mix is horrible, one the hook ends the verse gets a lot louder. Overall the track is generally enjoyable but it does nothing to me, it's too bland, the track would need to consist of really good vocals to make it something worthwhile.
As for the second track, Venture's This is how you said you wanted it, right.
I like this one, the mix is very clean and crispy, all the sounds have enough space and the track is easy to absorb. I like the crackly burning type sound that are panned in both left and right, the breakdown with the cutoff effects were pretty effective and had a nice atmosphere to it. The only thing I could point out about it is that the melody of the track, I've heard before, I really liked the ambient sounds in the back ground, I can tell you put a lot of work in your tracks.
Third track - Black Arrow's Apologize remix, the track is almost a hybrid remix, there isn't too much of a change to consider it a remix, I'm not sure if you knew but the melody with the piano, is not the same as the original, you seem to be one key off, I'm not sure if you did it on purpose but it is what it is. I didn't like how you tried to mimic the drums, even tried to get the same exact drum samples, the hook seemed quite cheap to me, I don't think the synth choice was good for it, I think the beatbox was sampled from My love, which was a minus for me. I know a lot of people try to capture that timbaland sound (including myself) but sometimes it's a little too much.
The next track - Say hello to the future.
I like this one, very nice powerful feel to this, the strings are real nice, I'll guess it's a sample though. The orchestration of the song flows very nice and nothing comes out of nowhere that may throw us off. I enjoyed this one a lot, especially the second verse. Clean mixed, the drum choice was perfect for the sounds used.
For Rubens track - Xerxes
I was the first to hear this joint, the snare was sampled from What happened to that boy, the snap sounds sampled from a Kevin cossom joint, The verse section on this track is the most creditable, has a good atmosphere and feel to it, drum layout was good, I'll tell you again, I don't like the chopping of the drums, that's a lil too much of an imitation towards timbaland, especially when you do it the same way he does himself... The chorus is so much more weaker than the verse, the song had a lot more potential than you had finished it with. Overall the track is well.
The last track - I Stole on U, I love the name of the track, it fits perfect with how the track was made, this was my favorite track on the mixtape, I love the drums and that wet snare is pleasant to hear. I really like the smooth sound choice you included with this one. The break down of the drums was pretty dope, I think this one is the highlight of the mixtape for the producer features. The only thing I'd suggest is to compress the drums and make them stand out more, they seem to be intertwined with the melody and synths. I like the choir hits a lot.
The mixtape, was good, but I ask you this Venture, I sent you over 6 Submissions, and from this mixtape, I would have expected more man, there are only 15 tracks on the mixtape and I don't know why I wasn't thrown on here, I'm not trying to cause any troubles, but there must have been a good reason I wasn't on here because the track for this months mixtape is bland, not only that, it took you a week long delay to release, which also made me think the mixtape would be much more intimate and nicely constructed, but I'm left with disappointment.
Thanks for the mixtape review. Glad you liked the track(s). :)
I'd rather not explain our actions via this post, for this is for reviewing this mixtape intelligently, like you did in your review.
To speak very briefly on this, art is subjective. All because the creator thinks their art is good (all that matters), doesn't mean others will think so. 3 brains deciding compared to 1 brain deciding is a more complex process.
Remember, if your material did not make it to the mixtape, remind yourself that other peoples didn't not have their material put on the mixtape. Also, keep in mind, me being cool with you in, and outside this track, does not mean I will give you pass, and automatically put you on the tape simply because of our coolness.
Also, more importantly... yes, some important people view this site, and our material... it isn't of the world if your material didn't make one mixtape... but these people seeing you complain on this site is not a fitting look. Trust me. Thats more than brief, sorry about that.
Thanks for your beat review. Appreciate it bruh. "Stick Shift" is an instrumental from Craig Bass (Writers Ink Records)track on "No Parachute" mixtape. Download it from my blog. You are damn spot on, its not a mixed track. Ha ha ha. My appologies.
Oh well bro, I feel ya when your tracks are not featured or picked up. I went thru all that shit bro. You just got to keep on pushing and working n grinding bro. Thats the only way.
"Stick Shift - The beat is in every plain, the synth choice is horrible. they're too soft, the drums are not even mixed, they are buried deep under the synths, the vocals of the "Hey!" can fit with the song but it can be repetitive. The mix is horrible, one the hook ends the verse gets a lot louder. Overall the track is generally enjoyable but it does nothing to me, it's too bland, the track would need to consist of really good vocals to make it something worthwhile."
I sent you that snare Ruben, and if you didn't, either way that snare was sampled bro. And venture, I already took in the consideration of what others might think of my tracks. I already know how to listen to my beats and understand why I come to like it and I can also hear why others would not. I know what sounds good and what does not, I give the necessary criticism and understand it. Music and art, as you said, dwell within us naturally, but I have a particular ear for it, and the submissions I sent could not be denied by anyone on this entire site that it was bad, I put my word on that. If I uploaded a link to one of my submissions, everyone at TTB will love it, what I'm saying is, out of all the submission choices, why is the mixtape so poor... Idk man, because of the mixtape selection was this poor then this says something about you, and how you said that three heads did the track choosing and there are only 15 tracks. Not one of you wanted 1 of my 7 submissions? Are you indicating all my submissions are horrible? When putting out a mixtape, I would think you would distribute the best product encouraging Internet surfers to visit more often, but this mixtape was at the MOST only decent, the replay value did not last long at all.
Mixtape entries were tight, sorry I had to withdraw mine Venture. You guys will hear it soon from someone though (who I haven't worked with yet till now!).
I don't think you should take it to heart Kenny, if you didn't get on just try again next time. In the music biz you have to learn that getting turned down just means to come back harder.
I listened to all the producer tracks before finding out who they were, and lo and behold Wizz Dumb created my favourite. That synth melody is so off the wall and the actual synths chosen is peeeeerfect. Thing I envy is that he doesn't have to add overcomplexity to his beats.
Say Hello To The Future is my 2nd best, nice feel good beat which dynamically sounds so on point
I got to give Ventures track props for creativity, definitely a very unique track - I think the saw synth that comes in later though wasn't the best move. If this track had the checklist for a nice album friendly hiphop track, it would have been really sick.
^haha lol @Buddha. I think that Apologize remix was the first remix I've ever done. More than a year ago xD. I'm not usin those cheap "timbaland drumkits" anymore hahaha
and nobody noticed our two exclusives?? The CaliStylz/Luke James XIII/Danja "All Over" track and the Wizz Dumb beat!!!!!
good mixtape yall, seems like some drama behind it... oooohhhh
oh i was in the room when venture posted that track, its not a hip hop one unreal, its industrial, industrial synth/rock uses a lot of weird/nasty sounding shit... it sounds influenced by NiN, listen to Trent's shit... dope mixtape everyone
I got ya I bought Ghosts etc etc so I know who Trent Reznor is; just didn't know it wasn't meant to be a hiphop track but it could have been easily translated into one with some edits.
My damn internet connection dropped, and the router is acting like a proper little cheeky bitch. >:(
Woah, a lot of drama indeed! Why so serious?
Thanks unreal! Yeah, that track wasn't meant to be a hip hop track, it was a infusion of industrial and glitch and a little DNB :P
I frikkin love those synths that come in... sounds like demons scratch, sawing, burning and screaming, and they invade the already playing melody. Did you hear the demons laughing at a point?
And Kenny, your particular ear for music, is also subjective, you realize?
Even if you sent in 20 beats, and none of them make, no reason to be furious. Producers send in countless, and countless numbers of demos to labels a day, and only a few are chosen. Nothing to be upset about bro.
Everyone seeing you complain and being upset is showing a brand new side of you, or has it laid dormant all along? I'm not sure, it is not a good look...
I really love track 2..the britney spears track..that switch in there is siiiccckkkkk wit the trance gate coming in..very good mix..i also like that ehhhh! sample from say it right
Bringing out a new side of me? I can quote you on that too venture. It's not the fact you didn't accept my submission, more so over the principle. Next month though, I'll tear it up.
What principle? By your logical and principle, everyone who sends 3 or more tracks should be placed.
I would like to refer you to the rules and guidelines of the mixtape. It states that only 3 submissions are allowed. So 4 of your track submissions were automatically invalid.
If you really want to get technical then I can also say that you had revised the guideline stating two or MORE guests per tape, when previously it was only 2, I can also state out that Rubens submission was turned in after the 5 day deadline, the mixtape was to be released October 23rd, and he had sent it in after the 5 day deadline.
I sent more just so you can choose, there was no given order of my submissions, look, all I'm getting at is that I expected one of my tracks on the mixtape, reason I say this is because after over viewing the mixtape, I asked myself if these made it to the cut, why wasn't mine? I'm not trying to boast myself or anything but it is what it is...
The tracks on the mixtape weren't really up to par to the previous tapes and I thought at least I would be on it this month because I have been on all the previous ones, It really isn't my fault to expect myself being on there when I was on the previous tapes, it's a natural occurrence, or as you would say "subjective"
Then of course, it is not within my decision to do that so I can only complain to such an extent.
Anyways, I think we should crush this argument and forget it ever happened. I acted out of my way and you responded. My apologies, but thank you for explaining everything to me.
I do hope you understand where I am coming from though.
We run this site, we can change rules. Fair is fair. I did change it, not because of this argument, but I thought I'd make it more up to date. 2 guest per mixtape is boring. I want to expose more talent. Simple as that.
To be precise, everyone stuck to the 3 max rule, except you. So what we didn't pick your submissions. We didn't pick a lot of submissions. There isn't going to be guarantee that you will be on the next mixtape, or any of the people on this current one.
Its all subjective. But one thing I don't really like about your argument, is that you kept on dragging your "friend" Ruben into the mess. He has nothing to do with you not being chosen. True friends don't make the other stick their head out when in ditches to get shot. We pushed the mixtape back a few days for waiting for more exclusives.
I can't believe the way you acted of all this situation. I'm flabbergasted to say the least. I wish you had my attitude in this situation. I've been turned down by people that could put me in right places... but I just say "fuck it", and I know my shit is hot... but I don't need to argue with them and let them know how I FEEL about MY music.
I can't pretend this situation never happened, I'm willing to never mind it, but its execution and explanation on your part was of poor taste.
Once again, art is subjective. Not everyone is going to like your shit. As long as you like it, that should be all that matters. I make my music for me, if I happen to get signed, its a plus, if I get a hit on the radio, its a plus. I consider those events to be people joining my world, not me joining theirs. I make music for me, and low and behold, benefits and pluses arise from it. So if things don't work out for an individual, I don't get upset, because I ultimately make it for me.
Sorry for the long posts, I enjoy writing... which I guess would explain why I had one of the top writing/essay scores at my college lol... shameless brain plug... lol butt thats neither hear or their lol... sorry
I brought Ruben into it because you wanted to talk about me breaking the rules, but I thought I'd justify myself by pointing him out myself. You tell me to consider your attitude, but you've yet to even comprehend mine. You probably sit there and imagine how it feels, but this was in turn had never happened to you. If you don't want to forget it than that's fine with me, but you never try to accept blame at all Venture, you always point your finger to the opposing team, no matter what the topic, no matter what. I apologized for myself and my dis-respect towards TTB with my immature sense of acknowledgment, but you come back at me saying you can't believe this and that. Trust me Venture, I've been turned down myself, Don't think for a second I haven't felt cruelty or rejection. I stood my ground and called you out, although I went over the line, I offered an apology. Accept it or not, I'm sincerely sorry for doing this.
I enjoy writing myself, My teachers pride me on that.
by venture "Sorry for the long posts, I enjoy writing... which I guess would explain why I had one of the top writing/essay scores at my college lol... shameless brain plug... lol butt thats neither hear or their lol... sorry"
19:04 man i hope your stupid teacher doesnt read this...the spelling errors are terrible..."lol butt (but0 thats neither hear (here)or (nor) their (there)" lol thats just bad...go back to 6th grade dummy lol much like your writing skills your music follows..terrible and laughable! lmao @ you dummy
Thanks a lot for yall kind words! It is highly appreciated! I'm just trying to make it, and live up to my name venturing out into genres most producers won't touch.

Enjoy everyone! And haters, if you post in this post, remember, thats a auto win for us.
Thanks everyone! Our 5 installment! Loads of mixtape submissions.
I'm going to ask, why wasn't one of my tracks featured on this mixtape.
Although this isn't a question to even discuss of. I sent in several beats and was even told from Black Arrow and Venture you liked my remixes.
I'm kind of apalled with seeing my friend Rubens track on the mixtape but not a single one of mine.
Hey bro.
Ummm, we all went over many, many tracks. Please email us and we can talk about it. I did like some of your submissions though.
I heard, 60 submissions, and around 7 or so were mine. I know I shouldn't be getting mad, but it's the fact I sent in some undeniably great tracks.... but then when I reviewed the mixtape; all I heard were just some normal beats you'd hear anywhere else. I question that...
Ok to be correct it wasn't quite 60...
I heard it was 60, sorry if I was misinformed.
Yeah I must of thrown out that number to someone in exaggeration.. Sorry.. Don't think it was far off though :D
Yeah, Ruben.
It's cool though.
Kenny! Link me your myspace so I can enjoy your music on there!
Good job with the mixtape fellas!
timnmagoo, please... go call crawl into a box and die
LOL ^
When a anon tells you to die, and you are a spammer, you auto lose.
Please all haters, please stay, you see they got the google ads up, that means you hate = support = money. timnmagoo, i swear... you must be a homo, stop craving venture dick... lol you fag bag.

I was the first to hear this joint, the snare was sampled from What happened to that boy, the snap sounds sampled from a Kevin cossom joint, The verse section on this track is the most creditable, has a good atmosphere and feel to it, drum layout was good, I'll tell you again, I don't like the chopping of the drums, that's a lil too much of an imitation towards timbaland, especially when you do it the same way he does himself... yall see how timnmagoo never replies to anyone else that calls his bitch ass out... timnmagoo, your momma's butt feel good?
luke, venture, black arrow, please stop banging timnmagoo's mom... you see he can't handle it...
and venture personally, you not responding to him is the exact way to handle this little prick, he just wants to talk to somebody...
Yo Kenny from Astro!

Great material on The mixtape mates! Its a like lOL! BUt if I must ask, who produced the last track??
naw kenny i didnt sample the snare from what happened to that boy

There is being influenced by a producer, and then there is straight up jacking him. Black Arrow definitely crossed that line, lol.

Damn that boy Kenny is furious!!
Good mixtape overall I really dig the beat Ruben did.
@anon
