Aaaaah here we goooo...with the hate...Anon11:54 ya'll hard to please!...shit I would hate to be Timbo! Song is chill...Drake is a chill artist, Tim just trying to make a R&B beat for an R&B artist! JUMP OFF his Dick people! For reaaaaaal!!!!

Frederick said...

LOL Say Something sounds like the lite version of Running Mate. Too convoluted.

I really like this, it needs to be released Summer 2010 though... its too much of a Summer track to be released in the Winter.

The beat is nice and chill, but co-produced? Really? LOL

Drake... dope as usual... I can tell Att wrote this write away by listening to Tim's cadence.

Really nice song.

Venture ur right! Feels like a summer tune but I think a lot of radios will play this track on their stations until the summer. It's that kinda tune.

I think it's a cool track to relax. Just like Venture said.
Lying on the beach in the sun and listening to it... :)

This melody is also catchy IMO. I'm humming it all the time, well...not all the time. But a lot! haha

Man, this is SOOO much better than that unfinished version posted. I can definitely see this being a big hit. Seems like a grower, too.

I'm with Big-A. Another bum song from this album (as in, one that doesn't resonate at first listen) and I'm gonna be on Mediafire when it leaks. All I ask is someone make something worth buying. You can't come out with anything BUT heat around Thanksgiving. But, Kanye released a BS album last year around that time, so everyone else thinks they got a pass.

People were complaining about Timb's productions last year around this time, but those were #1's compared to these Shakira/Drake/So Shy "experiments". And, don't tell me SV2 is supposed to be "It's so BAD, it's good!" Should be, "It's so good, it's GREAT."

Attitude, D.O.E.: do us all a favor and come out with an album. I know you're both gonna make guap cashing in on royalties, but stay hungry nonetheless.

What happened to the beat :(.. I preferred the Reference... http://limelinx.com/files/6a30dab71a36b6d2578143e470d6f64e

Art is 1000% subjectiveness. You can't please everyone. So I'm looking at all these responses so far. Its really divisive.

Big-A said...

Dude, this ain't no art. Art is something that comes from heart. This here is a typical industry song. Let's grab the hottest-dude-of-the-moment and slap him on the beat.

Ya'll have no idea how hard it is for a long time Timbo fan to give most of his latest stuff a pass.

Anonymous said...

USE MUSIC DON'T LISTEN TO IT!!!!

Anonymous said...

big-a im not a drake fan at all but your becoming abit too anti timbo for my liking, i used to rate your opinions now your judgement just seems too picky, lighten up man! Alot of work goes into these songs....

Alex said...

Can we all at least agree the engineering/mixing is way cleaner on Tim's latest stuff than SV1-era stuff? :D

Venture said...

The mixing is a lot cleaner. Julian has been mixing some stuff I believe. I enjoy his mixes.

SV1 had Demo, and Marcella, right? It was warm, but a lot muddy, too muddy for my taste... the synths didn't stick out enough for me.

So far best engineer that worked with Tim, that has an awesome sound... is Jimmy hands down... dude is genius.

Big-A, I respect your opinion and all... but... who are we to say this came, or didn't come from the heart? That is not what art is. Art is self-expression, a way of conveying an idea without using simple means of communication. It is not defined as if it is from the heart or not. I am as well a long time Timbaland fan.

But to say this isn't art is incorrect. In fact, any song released from the Industry that wasn't pre-made by someone before they entered the industry, is a typical industry song... they want monetary reprising. :P

Even if I disliked this song, I'd still say the same thing. As a composer... I can factually say... this is art... wether it is good, bad, sincere, insincere, etc... is subjective... but this is definitely art.

Hell, I've seen painters grab paint and just literally throw it on the canvas, and get millions of dollars. The result, and even the actions took was art, was it sincere? Thats up to you to decide...

where's the download link for this track?!I love Timbaland's verse! Can't wait for SV2

Great track, simple melody but it's hard to make a melody simple and still sound good, that's why I like this track so much.

I don't necessarily consider this material to be on SV2 but the more the merrier right?

I think the hook could have been done better, a LOT better but hey, it's his music, not mine.

Great respect.

A simple beat needs a co-producer? J-roc replaces Danja to play the keys? An ok track for me.

Sorry guys, but this isnt Shock Value quality.
Every single from the original Shock Value was a lot better than this. And not just the singles, most of the other tracks were better than this.

I have high hopes for the Justin and Brandy tracks cuz the first two singles probably wouldnt have made the cut 3 years ago.

Venture said...

I agree.

Funny how the comment about Big-A hasn't been deleted yet.

Big-A said...

why delete it? leave it there. I wanna encourage other people to reveal different sides of me that I didn't discover yet.

I really enjoyed the two-minute sample of this song... however this version sounds like something from a mixtape. Also, I Timbalands verse, for me, was just kinda flat. Not as good as I was hoping. I'll still buy it-better than anything else coming out lately.

LOL I have disagreements with Big-A but there's no need to resort to that man.

There's still something very intriguing about this track. I left it for a few hours on repeat and couldn't get enough of it lol. Simple ok not something you would expect for an SV2 track but I still dont expect it to be as good as the other tracks on the album.

1 or 2 SV1 tracks are forgettable if I'm honest, some which might call them as only ok. This one maybe for some but dont exaggerate by calling this track aweful.

Venture said...

Why we didn't delete that anon's comment? Big-A doesn't want it to be deleted, and he knows how to handle it.

It is so funny how members struddle around here trying to start stuff. lol

I honestly don't see where the high expectations are coming from after Shock Value I. I thought as an album, it was fairly atrocious and very uncohesive, especially considering all the hype. There were some good singles, but that was about it. The only tracks I ever come back to now are "Give It To Me", "The Way I Are", "Miscommunication", and especially "Hello". The rest of it...don't really care. My initial feeling is that even though I'm not a huge fan of what's come out so far, I'm going to like this effort better as a whole. I hope I'm not wrong about that, or I'll be disappointed by two Tim albums in a row, lol.

Anonymous said...

this is awful drake is wack man!!! dont put this on sv2 please get some more beats like morning after

Haze said...

tbh Shock Value 1 was what it was. I think it wasnt meant to be cohesive or follow a theme, it was a selection of songs that dipped into other genres... and tbh the singles were played so much, i hardly ever play them anymore... the tracks that interested me were the rock traks. SV2...as far as features go, most of them arent not 'shocking' as it were... but again im interesting in the rock tracks... Chad Kroeger, The Fray, Daughtry and Jet... oh yeah! :D

Unknown said...

Big-A i agree. this is not as mind blowing as the old timbo.

i kinda prefer tim not to be mainstream now as he is putting out simple repetetive beats that doesnt "grab" me like he did back in the way hits like "is that your chick"

how ironic that Tim's best work is done on his own without the influence of third party producers like danja??

I love love love love this song.
