Could this be a sign that Tim is going on hiatus or even retiring?
He did mention that he was reluctant about doing the honors for Missy because he said that usually it means you're finished.

Timbaland retired a long time ago. He just hasn't realised it yet.

but to see everything through rose-colored glasses isn't good either. his last records (SV2!) seemed uninspired.he did what everybody is doing right now: Some dance music, some pophop and some miley.but i don't think he will retire right now.if the tracks he did for RiRi are as hot and groundbreaking as jim beanz said than it's just the right time for another change in radios music.
Look! I just proposed a question and quoted the exact words that Tim said himself. I didn't give my opinion. I honestly believe that Tim is trying to find himself again. Every artist, musician, producer does that. Is he what he used to be? my opinion is that he has it in hi of course but he's dabbin in other things. Do i hope that he will change music again? At least one more time he will. Am I a true Timbaland fan? Have been since swing mob. Remember when Ginuwine's name was tornado? Didn't think so. Who do I pick, MMG vs. Beatclub? BEATCLUB!!!! Those are just my opinions... so before you say to not call myself a Timbo fan, read what I posted. Just an observation.

@Mr. Rios - Welcome to Our World is my favorite Tim album too with Under Construction Part 2 as close 2nd. I think Tim has problems with the industry not recognizing the craziness he had back then which is why he's doing what others are doing today and ultimately to make money.
Whether or not he's retiring is another issue. I'm just looking forward to the performances that will honour him on the show. Should be good.
I'm excited about the show man. idk if he just had problems, im sure he had some, but he basically is still doing what he started with JT and Nelly. That whole 80's stuff... and people are still on it. I think it's just that the die hard fans like us are not used to Tim staying with one style for more than 3 years. We're used to him doing it for Aaliyah, missy, G, and then a tim and mag album... and then switching it up again. He's been on the same stuff since 2006. I hope the next change comes quick cuz I'm feenin for some stuttering.... And some crazy sounds!
And another reason is he's now a father of 3 and married. Dude just wants to clock in and out to get home and you know what I ain't mad at that.
Nah... he AND Danja started that whole Nelly and JT phase. Not just Tim. Not just Danja.
I love versatility. Even though Tim isn't very versatile (really), he is still a genius. And yes, I think that genius will always be known... but that fire is starting to burn out... I'm not sure why.
But on the flip side... dude is a Husband and a Father... retiring to fully focus on the better joys of life (his wife and kids) sans division... is inevitable.
The way I see it? I did not care for SV2. SV was great. I think Tim can retire now... he has done a lot of good for music.
BUT! I think that since SV2 was so weak... I think Tim should leave music with a album that he produced by himself... to leave everyone with a nice farewell.
Tim has done more than enough. Its time for the new wave of producers to take over.
